Not too long ago, my friend recommended a cafe that we went to which is called 'Cafe Layered' and which is close to Anguk station and has the most mouthwatering selection of cakes and pastries.
By the way, have you every been around Anguk station in Seoul? I've never been there until recently, but it turns out that there are lots of cute and cozy coffee shops in that area! Definitely worth a visit.
But back to Cafe Layered. We went quite early to the cafe (We're getting old) so we still had a choice on where to sit and we scored a sweet table directly by the window. However, shortly after we sat down and got our order, the place filled up and people have been waiting outside.
So, in case you want to go to Cafe Layered, you better be early or be fine with waiting for a bit.
The cafe is in a cute old Hanok style house which gives it automatic plus points in terms of atmosphere. Once you go inside, you immediately see all the cake and pastries that are piled up on tables in the middle of the cafe. A dream. You can just take a plate and fill it with all the sugared fineness that you can eat.
Behind all the cakes is the cashier, so you can go there with your plate and order your drink immediately.
The tables and seats at Cafe Layered are all scattered around with the tables with the cakes and the cashier being in the middle of the room. As already mentioned, we were sitting at a table right by the window, one of my favorite seats in almost any coffee shop, but they were lots of other nice seating opportunities. Overall, the cafe is rather small but more people than I expected were able to fit into it.
Coffee and Cake At Cafe Layered
The selling point of the cafe is its cake! There were so many options that looked mouth watering, I had a hard time deciding!
In the end, I went with a strawberry crumble, and my friend went with a raspberry cake. Both were very good and made me want to try more cake! Next time I want to try out the victoria cake, I mean, look at it!
Next to the cakes we chose, they have looots of other options.
For coffee, we went with an Americano and an Iced Vanilla Latte (I have a sweet tooth). Both were good, but I have to admit that I don't remember much about the coffee because I was so overjoyed by all the cake and pastry options.
However, since I don't remember much about the coffee taste, that means it was neither extremely good nor bad, so that's already something, isn't it? And they gave us a cute cup, loved that!
Cafe Layered Menu
Overall, they have lots of different drink options at Cafe Layered, coffee and non-coffee, which is a plus point! You can check out the drinks menu below.

Apparently, the cafe has also a few other locations, so make sure you're going to the right one, but this one is near Anguk station. The closest exit is exit no. 2, but check out the map below for detailed directions.
